Every woman who wears our reversible clothing isn’t just another customer, she’s distinctive. She knows that by owning a Geminae piece she has a garment made with love & pride that was hand-sewn just for her.
One day at a thrift shop, I found a vintage reversible halter top & an idea began to grow. What if I could create reversible clothing that was sewn from quality fabrics & constructed to last? What if those same designs were inspired by classic vintage fashion so that they remained wearable from season to season? Wouldn’t this give women more options? More versatility?
I set out to create the most classic, elegant, & versatile clothing that I could for women who wanted an alternative to fast fashion. Dresses that Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn might have worn. Garments that were not only beautiful but adaptable to fit into a modern woman’s life.
Through trial & error I succeeded in perfecting the patterns that are used in my first collection: Icons. I also had to educate myself on the foundations of running a business & get all my legal ducks in a row.
The most difficult part of this process was sourcing all the materials that were needed. Quality is very important & a crucial reason why Geminae began. Many suppliers were tried & tested. The Icons collection was pushed back to Spring 2017. At one point it looked like the whole collection would have to be re-designed but the vision I had in the thrift shop that day persisted.
Despite everything, Geminae is here today & the response has been amazing. Every time an item is wrapped & shipped, it’s on its way to becoming a part of someone else’s adventure called life. For me, there is no better feeling.
